HOME OF HOWARD FINSTER'S VISIONARY ART ENVIRONMENT

Picture
This humble God fearing man had a vision from God at the age of 59. From that day forward he followed God’s call to paint sacred art. He worked tirelessly day and night until he was called home at the age of 84, producing over 46,000 works of art and building a place of inspiration to continue his message long after his passing. Howard Finster had the strongest work ethic.

Howard Finster was re-purposing and recycling before recycling was cool.

FAITH…LOVE OF NATURE…LOVE OF FAMILY AND OF ALL PEOPLE…REPURPOSE AND RECYCLE… A STRONG WORK ETHIC AND EVEN A NEW LEASE ON LIFE AFTER THE AGE OF 60…ALL OF THESE DESCRIBE FINSTER YESTERDAY AND TODAY. Come visit Paradise Garden and step into the heart and mind of a visionary man… be inspired and Let the Garden speak to you as it spoke to Howard.

In December 2011, Chattooga County purchased Howard
Finster’s visionary art environment known as Paradise Garden. The Paradise Garden Foundation was formed and thanks to many loyal and enthusiastic supporters such as the Art Place America Foundation, the extraordinarily wild landscape known as Paradise Garden is being revived. Finster created his garden to “invite viewers to read, touch and viscerally experience his artful and spiritual messages,” according to author Robert Peacock. Finster’s message is as strong today as it was when he created his masterpiece.

Take a look at some of the restorations we have been completing on Howard's Mosaics.

After years of accumulation of vegitation, and soil deposits we have been carefully cleaning and restoring areas of Howard's Mosaics.  Often times we have uncovered mosaics long since forgotten.  Now is the time to visit and discover with us the magic in Howard Finster's Masterpiece.
